Bishop Slattery to Celebrate Pontifical Mass in DC

Posted by Stuart Chessman

His Excellency Bishop Edward Slattery of Tulsa, Okla., has agreed to celebrate the first traditional Latin Solemn High Pontifical Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in nearly 50 years. The Mass will take place this Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. to honor the five-year anniversary of the inauguration of Pope Benedict VI.

William Cardinal Baum, former Archbishop of Washington, will also be present for this historic Mass.

The originally scheduled celebrant was Dario Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos. The Mass will be aired live on EWTN beginning at 12:30 p.m.
