Traditional Masses for the Feast of the Assumption

The following parishes will offer the Mass in the Extraordinary Form for the Feast of the Assumption on Sunday, August 15. If any of our readers know of another Mass in the area, please let us know.

Connecticut

St. Mary Church, Norwalk, Solemn Mass at 9:30 a.m.
Music will include Palestrina’s Missa Assumpta est Maria, motets by Monteverdi and Parsons, and all the proper Gregorian chants. Following Mass there will be a procession to and blessing of the new outdoor statues of Our Lady and St. Joseph.

St. Stanislaus, New Haven, low Mass at 2:00 p.m.

St.Bridget of Kildare Church, Moodus, Missa cantata at 12:00 p.m.

Sts. Cyril & Methodius, Bridgeport, at 10:15am.


New York

Church of the Holy Innocents, Manhattan, Solemn Mass at 10:00 a.m. Music will include Victoria’s Missa Ave maris stella and all the proper Gregorian chants.

Immaculate Conception Church, Sleepy Hollow, Missa cantata at 3:00 p.m.

St. Agnes Church, East 43rd Street, Manhattan, at 11:00 a.m.

Church of Our Saviour, 59 Park Ave, Manhattan, at 9:00 a.m.

Our Lady of Peace Church, 522 Carroll St., Brooklyn, at 9:30 a.m.
