Feast of Purification Observed This Sunday in New Haven

Posted by Stuart Chessman

Sunday, 5 February is Septuagesima Sunday. However, as is
permitted by the rubrics, this Sunday at St. Stanislaus Church
in New Haven, the Feast of the Purification of Our Lady,
or Candlemas, will be observed with a Blessing of Candles,
Procession, and High Mass at 2:00 P.M., to be celebrated
by The Rev. John Ringley, St. Mary, Norwalk.
Music for the service sung by the Chant Schola of the
Saint Gregory Society will include the “Missa Marialis” Ordinary
(Vatican Edition IX/X), the antiphons “Hodie beata Virgo,”
and “Senex puerum,” and the Gregorian chants for the Procession
and Mass of the Day.
