Fr. Brian Gannon, pastor of St. Theresa Church of Trumbull, CT, will be celebrating a Solemn Sung Mass in the Extraordinary Form on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, Sunday June 29th, at 2:30pm. This will be Fr. Gannon’s first public celebration of the extraordinary form and the first time in over 40 years that such a Mass will have been said at St. Theresa Church. Deacon for the Mass will be Fr. Shawn Cutler, parochial vicar of St. Theresa Church. A reception, hosted by the parish’s young adults group, will follow in the school gym.
As an aside, Fr. Gannon has been working to restore the proper architectural elements to the church; moving the celebrant’s chair from the center to the side, and returning the free-standing altar (lopped off from the once High Altar) to under the baldacchino, along with the crucifix. He and Fr. Cutler have also been working hard to catechize the faithful with respect to the liturgy and good worship each week from the pulpit and in the bulletin.
