Being Catholic: it’s a “Fool Time Job”

Posted by Stuart Chessman

We have to thank our friends at “Le Forum Catholique” – with their fine sense of language and nuance they have hit on the most remarkably exact description of being Catholic in the post-conciliar era that I have ever found:

“Etre catholique c’est du boulot. Fool time job. Vous pouvez me croire.”

SOURCE

And that in a foreign language! I was struck by how exactly this definition fits, for example, the experience of reading some of the comments to THIS POST regarding what is going on at Our Saviour’s in New York. Comments such as:

“Additionally, has anyone noticed, or even commented on,the fantastic improvement in the musical and liturgical standards since Fr. Robbins arrived?” (Brent S)

“Also, if the icons were meant to be permanently removed, those stark white pillars would have been immediately painted or covered with lovely felt banners or something…. Conclusions were jumped to with maybe no real reasons. This is the sort of paranoia and hyper-vigilance the Pope sees in “trads” and does not like. It’s what many people perceive in “trads” and call them rigid, narrow and judgmental.” (Joan A)
