Solemn Mass for the Feast of San Gennaro

Posted by Stuart Chessman

On Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 AM the Society of St Hugh of Cluny will be sponsoring a Solemn Mass at the Shrine of the Most Precious Blood in Little Italy.  This Mass will feature the music of Mozart.
.
We have many things to celebrate at this mass:

(a) the start of the festival of San Gennaro;

(b) the continuation of our series of September Italian heritage pilgrimages;

(c) the tenth anniversary of Summorum Pontificum; and

(d) the anniversary of the first mass sponsored by the Society (founded in 2007) on September 9, 2007 – before the official effective date of Summorum Pontificum.

The music will include the Missa brevis in D Major (K. 194) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, under the direction of David Hughes.

The celebrant of the Mass is Father Richard Gennaro Cipolla, the chaplain of our Society. St. Gennaro is one of father’s patron saints, near and dear to him.

We suggest that you come into New York and make a day of it. Attend our beautiful Missa Cantata, have lunch at the festival, stay  for the official grand procession of the festival at 2 pm. Festival events: https://www.sangennaro.org

The location of the Shrine-church of the Most Precious Blood is 113 Baxter Street/109 Mulberry Street, New York. See the shrine WEBSITE.
