I once knew a gentleman who probably forgot more about Catholicism than certainly I and probably many bishops and cardinals will ever know. He endured a lot and if he’s still alive is probably bearing a heavy burden trying to square our leaders’ massive retreat from defending our faith with the teaching of Christ. He drew the line at singing “Amazing Grace.” That was the one hymn he simply would not sing at Mass. I can’t say I blame him.

In a time when all manner of anti-social behavior is being promoted in the name of virtue, the message of true communion sorely needs to be preached. May other clerics follow Father Cipolla’s example.
