As we announced earlier, this is Fr. Michael Novajosky’s final week as rector of the Cathedral. He has decided to go out “with a bang” so to speak. Here is an excerpt from the bulletin:
“Back in October at St. Patrick Church we held our first 40 Hours Devotion. I know that my time here is limited, however 40 Hours was one of the highlights in my pastorate and I had planned to offer it in the Cathedral at some point during the year, so the upcoming change sped up the time table. We will offer it this upcoming Thursday, January 28 through Saturday, January 30 at St. Augustine Cathedral. It will start with a Votive Mass of the Holy Eucharist at 7pm on Thursday. The Mass ends with a procession, litany and exposition. Exposition will continue unbroken all day and night until after the Mass on Saturday morning.
“Next weekend is my final weekend and days in the parish. . . . I will be present at all of the Masses next week- end and be around for some brief words for those in attendance. For those who do not make it to Mass or wish to have some more time, I am going to be available for a bit next Sunday afternoon, January 31. Shortly after the 12:30 Mass concludes (so let’s say around 2/2:15), I will hang around the parking lot at St. Patrick if anyone wished to stop by to say hello/goodbye. You do not even have to leave your vehicle. We can keep it simple. I will plan to remain around until 3:30pm to provide that opportunity or longer if people are around. I have nothing else that evening except to grab the last of my things and drive off. There is no pressure and I will always be accessible my phone, email or text”
