I’ve heard rumors about this too; certainly they should be taken seriously. But I think that would provoke rather a severe reaction from traditionalists that today’s snowflake bishops would prefer to avoid. It would accelerate the migration and separation of the world and certainly of the United States. Traditionalists would accelerate moving toward more conservative dioceses and parishes where traditionalism is encouraged. In many cases these parishes are staffed by FSSP and ICKSP priests who simply are not going to offer the Novus Ordo. Even if Summorum Pontificum is modified or revoked, it will only slow the spread of traditionalism, and only in some areas. A good idea can’t be suppressed forever.
