A Traditionalist at Metropolitan Opera Radio?

Posted by Stuart Chessman
(Above and below) Salome and the beheading of St. John The Baptist – in the cathedral of Amiens, France. St. John’s head is kept in that cathedral.

Today was the feast of the Beheading (Decollatio) of St. John the Baptist – as was commemorated at Mass today at Sts. Cyril and Methodius church (ICRSS). Metropolitan Opera Radio (on Sirius XM) had Richard Strauss’s Salome on the program this afternoon – a coincidence?

These sculptures are on the outer wall or screen of the choir stalls. They were finished in 1531.
