Our Saviour’s

We dropped in at Our Saviour’s this afternoon to see what was going on for ourselves. Regrettably I have no new information to convey. I couldn’t find a statement by Fr. Robbins explaining his actions in the now empty cases for literature in the vestibule. But, all too obviously, some of Ken Woo’s paintings have been removed for some reason as yet undisclosed:

(Above) There have been various other changes here and there. I note the introduction of votive lights in the style – and at the prices- previously introduced at St Patrick’s Cathedral. For an increased price the worshipper – and God – gets a lot smaller candle.

(Above) The altar today. (Below) The altar in 2007 (By 2011 a crucifix had appeared on the altar as well). The alleged “Benedictine Arrangement” of which the NLM was previously so proud has also disappeared.

UPDATE:

We are informed on reliable authority that the removal of the icons is indeed permanent; others may follow.
