We resume our report when the pilgrimage recommences with reveille at 5:00 in the morning. Quite a few of the pilgrims are suffering by this point: aches, blisters, chafing, exhaustion – and in some cases worse. But by 6:45 the first chapters march out and the the pilgrimage is underway again.
The Pilgrimage resumes on the morning of the second day: Pentecost Sunday.

As the afternoon progressed the heat and sun became ever greater adversaries as the pilgrimage advanced into the open countryside. The heat continued unabated all three days.
