He would certainly be amused. He always mentioned the lack of competency in chanceries.

Whoever did the “official” version of obituaries, managed to get not only the initial letter of his middle name wrong, and not only the day of death, but also his day of birth!

His middle name was Emmerich (which I remember because he once said that he did not really like it). He was born on April 1 (today, he would have turned 87). He passed away on Easter Sunday morning, March 27, 2016.

Fr. Halborg, with whom I was well-acquainted from 1977 onwards, had “Emerick” as his middle name. When he became a Catholic in 1978 he took “Tobias” as his “confirmation name.”

He died just after 8 am on Monday, March 28, 2016, Easter Monday.

Father Halborg was a wonderful pastor to my wife and I when we were growing up in The Bronx where he was pastor at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He also married us 53 years ago. He was great working with the youth of the church. We will always cherish the wonderful memories we have of Father Halborg.
