Cardinal Burke Celebrates a Solemn Pontifical Mass in Stamford:Part 1

His Emminence Cardinal Raymond Burke celebrated a Solemn Pontifical Mass yestereday evening at the Basilica of St. John the Evangelist in Stamford, CT for the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In this post we cover the first part of the ceremony, the vesting ceremony. In Part 2, we will cover the Mass itself.

Prior to the Mass in the rectory, the Cardinal was vested in his Cappa Magna, sandals and buskins.
The Cardinal proceeds to the basilica
Upon entering the basilica, the Cardinal sprinkles holy water.
The Cardinal prays at the shrine of Our Lady.
The Cardinal is vested for Mass.
