Solemn Vespers in the Church of S. Lorenzo in Lucina

Posted by Stuart Chessman  Published in Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage 2025

The 2025 Pilgrimage Ad Petri Sedem formally began with Solemn Vespers in the Basilica of S. Lorenzo in Lucina. Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna, presided at the vespers and also preached. The ceremony was conducted by the Institute of the Good Shepherd.

(Above and below) The vast crowd of pilgrims exceeded all expectations and overwhelmed the capacity of this church.

(Above and below) Cardinal Burke, the patron of the 2025 Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage, sat in choir.
