On Friday, December 7, Father George Rutler celebrated a magnificent Traditional liturgy in Our Saviour’s Church, New York. Needless to say, the church was filled for this event. Not a few people engaged in the Restoration of Catholic art, architecture and liturgy were present in the congregation. Our Society was honored to provide support to the parish in its ambitious and exemplary liturgical program.
Please mark your calendars: Father Rutler will be celebrating a Missa Cantata (Traditional, of course) on Christmas Day at 10:00 AM at Our Saviour’s!

Braving the adverse weather, some 250 people participated in the celebration of the first Traditional Mass under the Motu Proprio at St. Mary’s Norwalk, CT. The Mass was offered in the basement chapel which recently has been lavishly restored. Father Greg Markey celebrated, Bill Riccio was, as always, a masterful MC and David Hughes expertly led the Schola. The Mass concluded with a Te Deum in honor of the start of the regular Traditional Mass at St. Mary’s. At the coffee hour which followed, Father Markey indicated that, assuming the strong attendance of today continues, the community could well anticipate a move to the upstairs church in the spring.

On Friday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. the Mass of Blessed John XXIII will be celebrated at Our Saviour’s Church in New York City. The celebrant will be the pastor, Father George Rutler. This Mass is part of a Triduum in honor of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady. Further information on the Triduum can be found here:
http://www.oursaviournyc.org/schedules
Perhaps I should point out that the celebrants of the two other (Novus Ordo)masses are affiliated with Opus Dei. Moreover, Father Rutler’s parish bulletin provides the following information on other sacraments:
LITURGIES
In keeping with the provisions of the recent liturgical guidelines of the Holy See, baptisms, weddings, and funerals may be celebrated according the traditional Latin liturgical books or the ordinary rites. Those desiring the “extraordinary form” may indicate this to the Pastor when scheduling the date.
