Il Vicariato di Roma ha concesso a don Mark Haussman di riprendere l’apostolato fondato da Mons. I. Barreiro e che si svolge ormai a San Giuseppe Capo le Case (via Crispino). 

“The Vicariate of Rome  has authorized Fr. Mark Haussman to take over the apostolate ( of the Traditional Liturgy – SC) founded by Msgr. I. Barreiro  which is located today at the church of St. Joseph a Capo le Case(via Crispino)

Symposium – Defining the Legacy of Patrick Keely – Architect of Holy Innocents

This year the annual symposium founded and organized by Donald Reynolds in tribute to Rudolf Wittkower will take place on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 8:30am to 6pm.

The symposium will put a particular emphasis on the work and legacy of Patrick Charles Keeley, who was the architect of the Church of the Holy Innocents.

The Novena of Grace

The Miraculous Novena of Grace In Honor of St. Francis Xavier
March 4 -March 12
HISTORY: The Novena of Grace, which begins March 4th and ends on the 12th, the day of the canonization of St. Francis Xavier, owes its origin to the Saint himself. At Naples, in December, 1633, Father Marcello Mastrilli, S.J. was at the point of death. The Saint appeared to him and, bidding him renew a vow he had made to labor in Japan, said: “All those who implore my help daily for nine consecutive days, from the 4th to the 12th of March included, and worthily receive the Sacraments of Penance and the Holy Eucharist on one of the nine days, will experience my protection and may hope with entire assurance to obtain from God any grace they ask for the good of their souls and the glory of God.” The Father arose, instantly cured. So well has the Saint kept this promise that this devotion in his honor became universally known as the Novena of Grace. Its efficacy is not restricted to the dates mentioned. It may be made very appropriately from November 25 -December 3, the Feast of St. Francis Xavier. Though any prayers can be said in honor of the Saint, the foregoing are generally recommended.
Prayers for the Novena

O SAINT Francis Xavier, well beloved and full of charity, in union with thee, I reverently adore the Majesty of God; and since I rejoice with exceeding joy in the singular gifts of grace bestowed upon thee during thy life, and thy gifts of glory after death, I give Him hearty thanks therefore; I beseech thee with all my heart’s devotion to be pleased to obtain for me, by thy effectual intercession, above all things, the grace of a holy life and a happy death. Moreover, I beg of thee to obtain for me . . . (here mention the spiritual or temporal favor to be prayed for). But if what I ask of thee so earnestly doth not tend to the glory of God and the greater good of my soul, do thou, I pray, obtain for me what is more profitable to both these ends. Amen.
 V. Pray for us, Saint Francis Xavier.
 R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
 O God, Who didst vouchsafe, by the preaching and miracles of Saint Francis Xavier, to join unto Thy Church the nations of the Indies, grant, we beseech Thee, that we who reverence his glorious merits may also imitate his example, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Then add 3 Our Father’s and 3 Hail Mary’s in memory of Saint Francis Xavier’s devotion to the Most Holy Trinity, and Glory be to the Father 10 times in thanksgiving for the graces received during his 10 years of apostleship.
PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS XAVIER FOR THE CONVERSION OF INFIDELS
ETERNAL God, Creator of all things, remember that Thou alone didst create the souls of infidels, framing them to Thy Own image and likeness; behold, O Lord! how, to Thy dishonor, Hell is daily replenished with them. Remember, O Lord! Thy Only Son, Jesus Christ, Who suffered for them, most bountifully shedding His Precious Blood: suffer not, O Lord Thy Son and our Lord to be any longer despised by infidels; but rather, being appeased by the entreaties and prayers of the elect, the Saints, and of the Church, the most blessed spouse of Thy Son, vouchsafe to be mindful of Thy mercy, and forgetting their idolatry and infidelity, cause them also to know Him Whom Thou didst send, Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord, Who is our health, life, and resurrection, through Whom we are freed and saved, to Whom be all glory forever. Amen.

“Repurposing” a Catholic Building near You

“All over the country, buildings formerly owned by the Catholic Church are being repurposed.”

“The church’s divestment of buildings has been going on for a decade. Sometimes, there’s pushback from the parishes where divestment occurs, which in many cases supported the development and maintenance of those properties. NPQ would love to hear how other buildings sold by the Catholic Church are being put to new uses, and how the local parishes and community have responded”

The restoration of a Brooklyn church….

And an Article in the New York Daily News about it.

We rejoice at the restoration of a Brooklyn church and at the rediscovery of the sense of the sacred and of the artistic heritage of Catholic Tradition underlying it.

“But when I heard how many people had strayed from Holy Name because of the modern altar, I got on board. It would be part of the evangelization of Windsor Terrace.” (The pastor of Holy Name parish)

Yet me must not forget that this success comes at a bitter cost: that altar came from a historic Brooklyn church recently destroyed. And sold to developers for a great sum.

Msgr Ignacio Barreiro, since 1998 Executive Director of the Rome office of Human Life International, will be joining the parish of St. Mary, Norwalk, CT as parochial vicar(curate) in March. Father Barreiro has been active in the pro-life and Traditional Mass apostolates for many years.
