Andrea Tornielli conducts an interview to provide a forum for a raging defense by Fr. Alfonso Bruno, new Secretary general of the FFI:
We adduce one extract, illustrating the character of the new management of the FFI and of their Vatican managers:
(Tornielli) “What is the situation of the Tridentine Mass in the churches administered by the Franciscans of the Immaculate? Where will it be celebrated?
(Bruno) Currently the holy mass, the so-called Tridentine, is permitted to the church of La Crosse in Wisconsin(USA) where there is an important colony of Lefebvrites who threaten to attract into their churches also those Catholics who love the extraordinary form.”

The following appears in the Bulletin of the Church of Our Saviour for Sept 22. It is posted on the church’s website:
MASS IN THE EXTRAORDINARY FORM (LATIN)
In his 7 July 2007 Apostolic Letter, Summorum Pontificum,
Benedict XVI sought to address a pastoral situation that
existed in some areas of the Catholic world—the desire of
some of the faithful to return to worshiping with the Roman
Missal that had been replaced in the years following the
Second Vatican Council. To make use of this privilege, the
Pope stated that there should be a “stable group of faithful
who adhere to the earlier liturgical tradition.” (Art. 4) He
also stated, “Priests who use the Missal of Bl. John XXIII
must be qualified to do so” (Art. 5, §4), i.e., conversant
with the Latin texts and the various rituals and rubrics
involved. A few weeks ago, Father Justin Wylie informed
the Pastor that he would no longer be able to continue the
responsibility of saying the Extraordinary Form Mass at
Our Saviour for the foreseeable future. Our staff has been
finding individual celebrants in the meantime. However,
we have not been able to find a priest who is willing to do
this on a regular basis. Father Robbins spoke with Father
Myles Murphy, pastor of St. Agnes Church, where there is
a weekly celebration of the Extraordinary Form every
Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Father Murphy has asked that those
who celebrate the Extraordinary Form here at Our Saviour
should feel most warmly welcomed at St. Agnes.
Additionally, St. Agnes has a first-rate choir at the 11:00
a.m. Mass, led by music director James Wetzel. Beginning
next Sunday, 29 September, the 9:00 a.m. Mass will be in
the ordinary form and in English here at Our Saviour. We
continue to rely on your understanding and cooperation as
we attempt to meld together three parishes on Murray Hill
and in Kips Bay.

Now that’s a concept I haven’t heard in many years!
“PUTTING AN END TO RUMORS.
Please help us. Cardinal Dolan has received letters alerting him to the fact that, because a small piece of scaffolding is in the church, Fr. Robbins “is dismantling our beautiful church.” Further added was that, since workmen were seen at the altar rail, he obviously is “removing the altar rail”, as well. The scaffolding is up to clean the statuary and the workmen at the altar rail were polishing the brass and returning the marble to its original beauty. We even received an email from an architect interested in “salvaging the altar rail marble.” There is absolutely NO truth to this rumor and it is making a new Pastor’s first weeks in the parish very unwelcoming. If you hear this rumor, please supply the person/s with the correct information. Rumors can and often do disparage a person’s reputation, not to mention that, in spreading them, we may find ourselves guilty of mortal sin.”

News of a new release from Sony Music, produced by Anthony Fountain.
It’s a re-issue of the full Solemn Pontifical Requiem offered for John F. Kennedy at Boston’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross in January, 1964. It is released today, on the Feast of St. Pius X!
As far as I know, it’s the only recording of Mozart’s full Requiem sung in the liturgical setting it was composed for. The CD includes all the parts of the traditional Requiem Mass, including the propers and readings.
