This Mass and all other Masses will be offered downstairs in the St. Patrick’s Chapel during this time. Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary in Griswold, CT will hold “A Day With Mary” on Saturday, January 16 from 9 am to 3 pm. The schedule includes the celebration of a Traditional Mass in honor of Our Lady at 11 am.
“A Day with Mary” is a beautiful day of prayer and devotion organized by the Mission of the Immaculate Mediatrix Movement (M.I.M.). It is based on the message of Our Lady of Fatima. In 1917 Our Lady requested:“Pray, pray much: make sacrifices for poor sinners; there are many souls who go to hell because there is no one who prays and does penance for them.”
The day includes a procession of Our Lady, a crowning ceremony, Rosary, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction and much more. For the full schedule and directions to the friary, go to this link.

The creche at St. Mary’s Norwalk.
This morning a congregation, completely filling the Church of St. Mary’s, welcomed the birth of the Saviour at the midnight Solemn Mass. A glance at our prior posting on Christmas masses, moreover, reveals that such splendid Traditional liturgies are no longer “extraordinary” at least in the greater New York area. And I do not believe that list is exhaustive. We welcome receiving any pictures or reports of these other masses.
We wish all our readers Merry Christmas and we will be posting on the masses on January 1 shortly.

The Mass was preceded by a musical program followed by a procession concluding with the placing of the Christ Child above the tabernacle.

Tradionalism seems on a roll at, of all places, the New York Times. We link to an article on reactions to ongoing clerical abuse scandals. The photograph is of last Sunday’s Solemn Mass (Gaudete Sunday). (The vestments were provided by the Society).
