For those who will be travelling to Washington, DC to participate in the March of Life next week, two traditional Latin Masses will be celebrated at the National Shrine: Monday, Jan. 21 at 2:00 pm in the Lourdes Chapel (lower level) and Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 9:30 am, also in the Lourdes Chapel. From what I have read, the chapel only seats 30 people. Let’s hope that the people at the shrine are overwhelmed with Latin Mass attendees. For more information go to this link.

Our Society will be sponsoring a workshop on celebrating and serving the Traditional Mass for priests, MC’s and servers at Our Saviour’s Church, NY on Saturday February 2 from 1 to 4:30 PM. Our “faculty”, Fr. Richard Cipolla (chaplain of the society) and Bill Riccio (of the Saint Gregory’s Society), will take you through each step of the liturgy. Any men who are interested please should let us know so we have an idea of the number attending.

Since 1998, the pastor, Father Gregoire Fluet has offered the traditional Latin Mass every Sunday in the parish, often in the beautiful, unrenovated ante-bellum “old church” that was all but abandoned in the 1950’s when the new church was built. Gradually Fr. Fluet has lovingly restored the old church.

Last summer, Fr. Fluet was appointed chaplain of the Ecclesia Dei ministry for the Diocese of Norwich by Bishop Michael Cote. According to the bishop’s letter, “This ministry will respond to the spiritual needs of the faithful in the Diocese who have an attachment to the Extraordinary Rite of the Roman Rite, the Rite of 1962. It will provide the necessary resources and provide a place of reference should any of the faithful request celebrations of the Rite of 1962 for funerals or weddings . . .” (Link to the entire letter)

Located in south-central Connecticut, near East Haddam and the Connecticut River, Moodus is an out-of-the-way destination for many of our readers. But this scenic area makes a wonderful day-trip, with many interesting sites nearby. Gillette Castle and Devil’s Hopyard State Park, for example, are great family destinations. The historic Goodspeed Opera House is only a few miles away in East Haddam.

The Latin Mass at St. Bridget’s takes place every Sunday at 12 noon. For holy day Latin Masses, check with the church.

A Traditional Latin Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated this Friday, January 4 at 6:30 pm at Church of the Guardian Angel, 193 10th Avenue at W. 21st Street, New York, NY. It will be a Missa Cantata. The church is scheduling a Traditional Mass every first Friday of the month at 6:30, taking over from the first Friday Mass that took place at St. Vincent’s. Directions
